Register Your Dog from July 19 to September 30!

In Korea, you must register your dog in the governmental system. You are required to take your dog to a veterinary clinic and register pet information when the dog turns 2 months old. Failure to register will be charged a fine of up to 1 million KRW. There will be a crackdown in October of this year regarding pet registration, and unregistered dogs may be restricted from using public animal facilities such as dog parks.

You can register your dog at the veterinary clinic by choosing external or internal chips. Registration fees are 3,000 KRW for the external type and 10,000 KRW for the internal type. The internal chip is a microchip that is the size of a grain of rice and it is injected under the skin near the dog’s scapula. It is a medical device for animals coated with materials that do not cause any harmful reactions to their bodies.

Pyeongtaek is encouraging residents to apply pet registration voluntarily before the crackdown in October. Penalties will be exempted for those who register their dogs from July 19 to September 30. But if it is found that your dog is unregistered after the designated period, you will be fined! So, make sure to spread the word if you know any dog owner who has not register the dog!

Most veterinary clinics offer animal registration services, so we recommend you to simply visit the nearest vet! Please join the regulation to stop the further abandonment of innocent dogs!
