Have you ever tried bossam (boiled pork in napa wraps) or jokbal (pig feet)? In Korea, you have to cough up at least about 30,000 KRW to order jokbal or bossam. The price is reasonable if you order food with a big group of people, but the price and quantity become too much if you have it all alone. If that’s the case, come visit SsaumGosu! SsaumGosu is a restaurant chain and located in several places in Pyeongtaek.
In addition to bossam and jokbal, you can also order samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly) at SsaumGosu. The lunch box consists of rice, your choice of bossam/jokbal/samgyeopsal, and a few side dishes. Also, there are the basic menu and set menu. The main difference is that the set menu includes vegetable wraps while the basic set doesn’t. The price difference is only 1,200 KRW.
You can also choose the size of your lunch box from medium to large and extra large. In addition to the lunch box, they also sell gukbap (soup with rice), makguksu (buckwheat noodles), and dakbokkeumtang (spicy braised chicken in red chili soup) and jjimdak (spicy braised chicken in soy sauce) for one person.
Spicy Dishes have chili image on the menu, so make sure to check it before making an order. The basic bossam and jokbal are quite good, but the garlic bossam/jokbal and ssaum bossam/jokbal are the most popular menus.
