Did you know there are a whopping 15
million pet owners in Korea, which accounts for 27.7% of the nation's
households? This means that up to 3 out of 10 people live with a pet. To keep
up with this uprising trend, Pyeongtaek city is continuously creating dog parks
in hopes of providing space for dogs to roam freely without a leash.
Today, we would like to introduce the
“civilian rest area with companion dogs” in Dongsak-dong!
Before utilizing the park, you must visit
the office to sign-in. When you sign-in,
you must list your dog’s registration number (in case you didn’t know,
Korean law requires dogs over 2 months old to be registered [registration
number given]). Once you are done, you can enjoy either the area for large dogs
or small to medium-sized dogs (please note that dangerous breeds*, sick dogs,
unregistered dogs, and dogs in heat are not allowed). It is open Tuesdays
through Sundays from 10 am to 7 pm, and admission is free. However, please note
that it may be closed during winter and rainy weather due to safety concerns.
* Breeds classified as dangerous by the
Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs (included in the Animal
Protection Act): Tosa, American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire
Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Rottweiler and their hybrids
With its spacious layout and various amenities, the park offers a healing environment where dogs can interact and relax together in a pleasant and comfortable space. If you've been searching for a place to enjoy some outdoor time with your dog, consider visiting the civilian rest area with companions dogs in Dongsak!
