Creator’s Insight: Celebrating Culture and Music at Korea Soriter Arts Center

Visit the Korea Soriter Arts Center to experience a cultural fusion of modern and traditional arts. This arts center is home to productions created by local artists and other prominent Korean artists.

If you're looking to have an enjoyable date with your partner while incorporating some physical activity, consider taking a scenic hike around Pyeongtaek Lake. This trail is not only relatively easy, but it also offers breathtaking views from the hilltop that will enhance your experience.

The Korea Soriter Arts Center, located near Pyeongtaek Lake, was established to foster cultural arts within the local community. It proudly hosts performances featuring traditional Korean string instruments such as the Haegeum. This arts center also offers a spacious parking lot and is free to use.

The Korea Soriter Arts Center offers various types of Korean Traditional Music and educational programs. It consists of a grand performance hall, an outdoor stage, and other facilities such as lecture rooms and offices. It is situated in the village of Gwongwan in Pyeongtaek's Hyeondeok Township. The vast area also includes a park and concert performance space, where various cultural performances take place throughout the year. Attending some of these performances is a great way to learn more about the culture of Pyeongtaek and be amazed by the incredible talent this country has to offer. The front view of the lake is fantastic, as it separates Pyeongtaek and Asan.

I visited Ji Young-hee Hall, named after Ji Young-hee, a Pyeongtaek native who was nicknamed the "Father of Korean Folk Music" due to his talent and contributions to Korean classical music.

Today's performance featured a concert by KIM JUNSU and Second Moon (두번째 달). This concert was a collaboration between KIM JUNSU, a Korean traditional music idol who secured second place on Korea TV Program JTBC's "Pungryujang," and Second Moon, the nation's first ethnic fusion world music band.

Before watching the concert, I purchased a ticket on-site. Admission was available at a special discounted rate of 6,000 won for Pyeongtaek citizens, thanks to the Pyeongtaek City Cultural Foundation. It was a fantastic place for a date on a hot summer day. Their performance was flawless, and the audience in the concert hall was captivated by their talent.

If another performance opens in the future, I will definitely attend and recommend it to others.
