A new Pyeongtaek Central Library is set to be built in Godeok New Town, creating a new cultural and educational landmark for local residents.
The city has finalized the winning design for the international architectural competition for the library. With a total project budget of approximately KRW 50 billion, the library will be built on a site measuring about 9,050 square meters.
The facility will feature one underground floor and four above-ground floors and will be designed to accommodate approximately 340,000 books. Key facilities will include library collections and reading areas, an open-access storage area, multipurpose rooms, a book restaurant, and an outdoor reading garden.
The new library is expected to provide residents with expanded opportunities for reading, learning, and cultural activities while serving as a major community space in Godeok New Town.
Construction is scheduled for completion in 2028.
