Creator’s Insight: Best Walking Trails in Pyeongtaek, Kid's Edition

As the summer heat begins to wane, it's the perfect moment to embrace the arrival of fall weather and the vibrant foliage. September and October offer an excellent opportunity to explore the splendid hiking trails in Pyeongtaek. Hakhyeon Neighborhood Park stands out as an ideal destination, especially for families with young children. This park not only features accessible trails but also the playground inside the Neighborhood Park and the Hakhyeon Net Adventure. To experience all the park has to offer, plan on spending at least two hours enjoying the nature trails, playground, and Net Adventure.

Hakhyeon Neighborhood Park is located in Anjung on the Western side of Pyeongtaek. Free parking is available in front of the Pyeongtaek City Hall Anjung Office and behind the Pyeongtaek Seobu Culture & Arts Center. Once you've parked your car, head towards the entrance of Hakhyeon Neighborhood Park near the Net Adventure area, which is located behind the Pyeongtaek Seobu Culture & Arts Center. Hakhyeon Neighborhood Park offers a series of walking trails with varying levels of difficulty, ranging from easy to moderately challenging. These trails include both ramped and flat sections, making them suitable for families with smaller children, and some are even accessible with strollers. A convenient playground is located halfway along the route, making it an ideal spot for a family break during your walk. Throughout the park, you'll find picnic tables, benches, and traditional Korean gazebos where you can relax and take in the surroundings. Restroom facilities are conveniently located near the Net Adventure area and the playground. As you explore the park, you'll be delighted by the beautiful flowers and natural foliage that line the trails, enhancing your overall walking experience. Upon completing your walk and returning to your starting point, consider visiting the Hakhyeon Net Adventures for an exciting tree-top rope course experience.

The Hakhyeon Net Adventure is a free and open facility available from 10 AM to 5 PM, with a break time from 12 PM to 1 PM. It operates from early March through October, except on Mondays and during the Chuseok holiday. This adventure is suitable for individuals aged 5 and older, and preschool-age children must be accompanied by an adult. Usage sessions begin on the hour and conclude ten minutes before the next hour, allowing for a ten-minute rest period before the next group starts. While reservations are not mandatory on weekdays, it is recommended to make weekend reservations through Naver. Reservation slots become available on the 10th of each month for the following month, and each hour can accommodate a maximum of thirty participants. For safety, please wear long pants, long-sleeve shirts, and closed-toe shoes when using the Net Adventure facility. Upon arrival, a Net Adventure staff member will provide a briefing on the rules and ask you to sign a usage agreement. The Net Adventure features a rope-lined incline leading to four different "trampoline-like" spaces. To exit the nets, you can enjoy a colorful and fun rope slide. Additionally, there is a small obstacle course located outside the nets, which is designed for younger adventurers to enjoy.
