The traditional Korean liquor distillery, Joeunsul, continues the tradition of traditional liquor made from local rice (especially high-quality local rice made in Pyeongtaek and grown in the Super O’ning Complex), yeast, water, and no unnecessary things such as artificial color with a little bit of a twist.
Joeunsul provides sophisticated liquor with good taste and aroma that breaks away from the stereotype of traditional Korean liquor being old-fashioned, headache incurring, and cheap. It aims to portray traditional Korean liquor as trendy and be considered equally of high- value as sake and French wine. It does so through its premium medicinal liquor created through a 100-day fermentation process and a long-term low-temperature aging process.
This distillery provides five different experience programs taking about one hour to one hour and thirty minutes. There is a simple Distillery Tour and Tasting Course, a Makgeolli Making Course, Makgeolli Jam Making Course, Moju (mix of makgeolli and herbs) Making Course, and Yeast Making Course. The courses’ contents consist of introduction to the Joeunsul Company, Distillery Tours, Lectures, Liquor and Pairing Food Tasting, and Making experience.
The experience programs are full of information about the background and creation of traditional Korean liquor, plenty of liquor and finger food tastings that pair well with each other, and a tour of the clean and well-maintained distillery.
