On January 31, 2025, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Korea Transportation Safety Authority released the results of the 2024 Traffic Culture Index Survey. According to the report, Pyeongtaek City received a score of 90.17, earning an A grade in traffic culture.
Among the 229 cities, Pyeongtaek ranked second. Notably, Pyeongtaek achieved the highest ranking among all municipalities in the capital region.
The Traffic Culture Index is an annual assessment conducted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. It evaluates the traffic culture levels of municipalities across South Korea based on factors such as driving behavior, pedestrian conduct, local government initiatives, and traffic accident casualties.
In the 2023 survey, Pyeongtaek received a score of 70, placing it in the E grade category. However, thanks to significant improvements in driving behavior, pedestrian safety, and municipal efforts, the city saw a remarkable four-grade jump to an A grade in just one year.
This achievement reflects Pyeongtaek's commitment to fostering a safer and more responsible traffic culture.
