Located in Paengseong-eup, the Paengseong Life History Museum (팽성생활사박물관) is a local history museum dedicated to documenting the origins, development, and everyday life of the Paengseong area over the centuries. The museum was established as an expansion of the former Anjung-ri Life and History Museum, with a broader mission to preserve and share the stories of the ordinary people who shaped this part of Pyeongtaek.
The permanent exhibition is organized into five sections. The first explores Paengseong's geographical origins, the meaning behind its name, and how the area has evolved over time. The second highlights the cultural heritage and traditional industries of the district's 25 villages. The third recreates the atmosphere of Anjung-ri's commercial streets from the 1960s to the 1980s, featuring a currency exchange, a tearoom, and a photography studio. The fourth brings together photographs, documents, and archival materials that tell the area's story through personal histories, while the fifth showcases artworks inspired by the stories of Paengseong residents, along with a green screen photo experience featuring Paengseong as the backdrop.
The special exhibition hall on the second floor is currently hosting Paengseong Memory Market (팽성기억마켓), running from March 4 to August 30, 2026. The exhibition documents Paengseong's history through everyday objects donated by local residents, from old tools and handmade items to personal belongings that have become part of the area's collective memory.
The museum also accepts donations of artifacts and materials related to the Paengseong area. Those interested in contributing are encouraged to contact the museum directly.
